Year 5 Update

This half-term in Year 5 has flown by and looking back, we can't believe just how much we have managed to cram in!

Our overall theme for this half-term was North America and Black History (nationally observed in October). In Literacy, we read a book called 'Slave Girl' and linked all of our work in English, History and Design Technology to it. In addition to our topic, we had some external visitors from the NSPCC in November who gave an assembly to the whole school and then ran workshops for years 5 and 6. We also finally met up with our pen pals from St. Margaret of Scotland. This was organised through a partnership of schools called the 'Schools Linking Network' which aims to strengthen communities and friendships across Luton. Our initial meet was held at St. Saviour's Hall and whilst there, both schools worked together and focused on cooperation, team work and communication. We all had great fun and were very lucky that Father Yenda allowed us to use his Hall. We can't wait to meet up with again in January!

In addition to everything mentioned, above, some of us were trained to be play leaders, went on masterclasses to Stockwood Park Academy, had our Christmas designs published into cards and put on an outstanding Christmas play! No wonder we are all so tired –phew! All of year 5 wish you a restful break and a Happy New Year.
